Stuff I've done recently!

Dumbing of Age is a fantastic webcomic about college students and shenanigans, and you should be reading it. Dorothy is predictably my favorite. 

130b: Advanced Modeling

Final portfolio renders of all my Maya work from this semester, including assets from the Bloody Mary project. Something new I learned this semester was modeling a high-poly model, and then turning the high-quality information into a normal map to put onto a low-poly model. 

117a Final Project: Gary Soto Treehouse

I have more work I want to do before I call them done, but... here's what I turned in! Very proud of my 117a class, we all improved so much this semester. 

With so much focus on the trees, it sort of turned into a second chance at my 113B forest painting, which I struggled a lot with. 

Color Comps! Color palettes inspired by Tarzan. Thank you Disney.

Wanted to try something a little different than my usual style. Skipping the lineart step makes things a lot faster. 

Figure Drawing Again

Some selections from last night's figure drawing... I can tell I'm getting more flowy on the tablet, which is nice.

117a Kitchen

  

For this project, we read a few short stories by Gary Soto about his childhood, and then had to depict either his kitchen or garage as if it were vis dev for turning it into a live action movie. The parts that stuck with me were of his mother working in the kitchen, so that's what I decided to go with. 

There are things I want to fix, but this is what I turned in. I'm proud of it! Though I enjoy rendering, coming up with a layout out of nowhere is difficult for me, so this project was a good challenge. We'll see if I can put to use what I learned here on the next project! 

117a Still Life: First assignment!

This was fun! I forgot how much I missed digital painting. 

We'll see how I feel about it in a few weeks.
